About this role

Tring Park comprises of one of Hertfordshire’s largest areas of SSSI chalk grassland alongside broadleaf mixed woodland. It’s a developing site, with an addition 63 acres of land bought in 2016 to extend the site. The grassland attracts a wide range of butterflies, with long grasses providing beautiful wildflowers in spring and summer.

The woodland trust monitors popularity on its key visitor sites. This gives ongoing information about footfall, popular entrances and potential anti-social behaviour. As a Volunteer Woodland Warden you make a difference by collecting this valuable data. As the counters are at every entrance to site, the day also serves as a thorough site check so you are our eyes and ears on the ground.

The Volunteer Woodland Warden will support the Woodland Trust site manager in monitoring the condition of Tring Park on a regular basis, with regard to the best interests of the visiting public and native wildlife.
