About this role

The Woodland Trust is the UK’s largest woodland conservation charity.  Founded in 1972, we were the first to stand up against the spiralling threats to our precious woods and trees, and we remain at the forefront of the fight to protect, create and restore UK woodland.

Since 2015 the croft woodland project has been helping crofters and smallholders create woodlands. Interest in planting trees has grown so much that our small team of advisers is now looking for up to five local croft woodland volunteers to help meet demand across the counties.

A key focus of this role to support small scale planting of croft woodlands will be to provide advice and guidance to crofters, landowners, schools and community groups relating to planting design, site suitability, species selection, protection, maintenance. You would also offer practical help with site layout, tree planting and installing guards. Your support will help to instil confidence and provide valuable reassurance.

We may invite you to attend occasional agricultural shows and events to promote woodland creation and talk with the public about your experiences
