About this role

We are looking for one person to fill this exciting new volunteer opportunity, which will involve bringing the  Guided Walk Leader and Volunteer Speaker roles together.

This volunteer role is to support the work of the Great Trossachs Forest Project (TGTF), which is run as a partnership between RSPB Scotland, Forest Enterprise, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park and Woodland Trust Scotland. This unique landscape-scale project is one of the most significant native woodland projects in the UK for a generation.  It is also one of the UK's largest National Nature Reserves. In 200 years, it will stretch over 160 square km at the heart of Scotland’s Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park.

 Volunteer Guided Walk Leader/Speaker -

The role includes the planning, promotion and delivery of guided walks in the Great Trossachs Forest. Walks are expected to last a maximum of 2 hours and the volunteer is to liaise with Trust partners if support from staff is required to run these.

you will use your natural enthusiasm, people skills and your passion for nature, history and stories to help us engage with visitors to ensure that they have a rewarding experience during their visit to the woodland.  Through the delivery of your walk you will also deepen our visitor’s awareness of the work of the Trust and the opportunities available to those interested in supporting our work and visiting other Woodland Trust sites.

Talks and audiences - Talks typically last for 40 minutes with time after for questions.  The presentations are delivered using a PowerPoint presentation (which we provide, along with a projector if required), along with accompanying notes. You will present to a variety of different groups, including: gardening groups, wildlife groups, local history societies, archaeological groups, Rotary, WI, Probus, and field societies.
