ACT NOW - Oppose Eastleigh’s harmful housing plans

Eastleigh Borough Council has recently released a consultation on its local plan. We believe it poses big problems for ancient woods and their wildlife.

Back in 2016 the council outlined proposals for a new link road between two of the Trust’s ancient woods, Crowdhill Copse and Upper Barn Copse, and plans for thousands of new houses around these woods and other areas of ancient woodland.

While some positive steps have since been made we think the council needs to be working much harder for ancient woodland with larger buffers, stronger habitat links and by tunnelling or moving the link road.

Join us in calling on Eastleigh Council to better protect the borough’s ancient woods. Stand up for trees!

What is ancient woodland?

Ancient woodland contains some of our most precious woodland habitats that are home to many species of rare wildlife.
