The UK’s native bluebell, also known as English or British bluebell (Hyacinthoides non-scripta), and hybrid plants that have been produced after cross breeding with non-native bluebells (Hyacinthoides x hispanica). These were originally introduced the the UK as a garden escape.
One of the main threats to native bluebells is cross breeding. But can you tell the difference between the two?
