Predominantly Beech and originally planted as part of a grand driveway. By the 1980s, the trees had reached their best and were starting to go into rapid decline. Most of the trees had to be felled for safety reasons but a program of re-planting has replaced what was lost. The wood is valuable as a local resource, enjoyed by many including dog walkers and children. It also provides a habitat for a wide variety of wildlife. The wood is carpeted with bluebells and celandines in the spring.
