A valley wood predominantly of two halves: conifer and beech. Although generally fairly dark, the chalk geology gives rise to species rich grasslands along wider rides, ride junctions and meadow glades. Here there's a splash of colour and in the right weather numerous butterflies. Part of the site is of national importance & designated as a SSSI, primarily noted for its chalkland flowers and invertebrate interest. Limited parking at the eastern entrance but please keep the gateway clear
