There is now a wealth of evidence on the many benefits of accessible woodland and trees in towns and cities, including improving physical and mental health, air quality, water quality, water management (reducing flooding), shading and cooling, as well as the more obvious benefits for wildlife and the shaping of more attractive places to live and work. However, not everyone living in towns and cities has easy access to this resource and, as our urban areas grow, we need to ensure that both existing and new residents can enjoy these benefits.
