Working with partners
The Prime Minister has joined us and our partners Sainsbury's and ITV to plant trees in support of the Queen's Commonwealth Canopy project.
Fifty thousand trees will be winging their way across the UK next week to form part of the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy (QCC), thanks to a partnership between the Woodland Trust, Sainsbury's and ITV.
As part of a campaign leading up to landmark ITV documentary, The Queen's Green Planet, the Woodland Trust will be providing 50,000 trees for ITV viewers.
Observatree launched in 2015 to protect UK trees and to better our understanding of tree disease and harmful pests. 235 volunteers have been trained by a collaboration between the Woodland Trust and other environmental organisations. Over 3,000 sites have been surveyed by volunteers in just over 2 years, the project will continue to receive funding and additional support to target both new and old tree diseases.
Tree nurseries encouraged to sign up to voluntary scheme which guarantees provenance of native trees.
Our restoration of Fingle Woods has been boosted thanks to £730,000 of grant funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
