The Gin Bothy
Our partnership with The Gin Bothy sees us receive support to fund restoration of the spectacular ancient pines which help give it flavour.
Award-winning Angus distiller The Gin Bothy infuses its classic gin & tonic offering: “Bothy Original” with pine needles from Loch Arkaig, our beautiful site in northern Scotland.
The company donates £1 from every bottle sold to support our efforts to conserve and regenerate the forest.
“When I heard about the Woodland Trust’s appeal for funds to buy and restore Loch Arkaig pine forest, I just knew we had to get on board. It is a spectacular place and there are such exciting plans for its future.”
Handmade in small batches in the Gin Bothy nestled in the Angus Glens, Bothy Original is infused with the finest botanicals including heather, milk thistle, hawthorn root and rosemary, as well as the all-important pine needles.
The Gin Bothy founder Kim Cameron said: “When I heard about the Woodland Trust’s appeal for funds to buy and restore Loch Arkaig pine forest, I just knew we had to get on board. It is a spectacular place and there are such exciting plans for its future.”
Loch Arkaig pine forest near Spean Bridge was recently bought by us in partnership with community group Arkaig Community Forest.
The Loch Arkaig appeal was launched in April 2016 to raise £500,000 to fund the purchase, and a further £4m to restore the forest. One of the most significant areas of remaining Caledonian pine forest, this will be the largest ancient woodland restoration we have ever undertaken. More here
The forest is home to wild boar, sea eagles, golden eagles, ospreys, pine martens and deer amongst many other species. Steeped in history, the area is the ancestral home of Clan Cameron – another reason Kim Cameron was keen to be involved.
