Our first and only housing partner has so far helped us plant more than 20,000 trees over the last seven years.
When Shanly Homes builds it also pledges to plant trees at Heartwood Forest – our 347 hectare site in rural Hertfordshire.
Through our sponsorship of the Woodland Trust we are delighted to plant trees, support children's tree planting events, create woodland spaces for rest and reflection and help fund volunteer training.
It has worked with us since 2010 and Shanly Homes, along with its charitable arm, The Shanly Foundation, has raised more than £350,000 for our work.
It specialises in architecturally innovative buildings but with a keen eye for protecting or enhancing the environment around. For each new home it builds it pledges to plant 20 trees at Heartwood, with 10 trees being planted there for every new apartment built.
Its funding is making a real difference to the growth of Heartwood Forest which is already seeing rising numbers of rare animals such as the hen harrier.
The partnership helps Shanly Homes to demonstrate that it is committed to the communities in which it develops – and in enhancing green space.
Tamra Booth of Shanly Homes said: “We value our environment hugely and as a responsible developer we focus our work on regenerating brownfield sites wherever possible. Through our sponsorship of the Woodland Trust we are delighted to plant trees, support children's tree planting events, create woodland spaces for rest and reflection and help fund volunteer training”.
