Get involved and enjoy learning outdoors (Photo: WTML)

Woods are truly magical playgrounds where children can have exciting adventures.

Catch dazzling, golden leaves as they drift to the ground in autumn; follow animal tracks in frost or snow; go on a minibeast hunt in spring; or climb trees to explore the leafy summer canopy.

We are passionate about getting children into woods, in fact we believe it’s a vital part of encouraging positive environmental values in children as they grow up. Time spent in the natural world also keeps children fit and healthy, and encourages creativity, self-led discovery and independence – invaluable life skills. And of course, it’s fantastic fun!

“I think what you do is great and more kids should get involved with nature and the wide world that’s out there!" Lottie, 12

We inspire children, families and schools across the UK through our popular nature detectives website. It’s home to over 1,000 free downloads and imaginative ideas to help youngsters enjoy more time outdoors, learning about woods and wildlife.
