ACT NOW: Lower Thames Crossing

Threat to ancient woods and veteran trees from Lower Thames Crossing.

In 2016, Highways England announced their intention to build a new tunnel under the River Thames, linking Essex and Kent. At the time, 6,000 of you took action as part of the Trust’s campaign against the impacts. We need your voices again.

Highways England has developed the project considerably since our previous action and is now consulting on their chosen route. We anticipate that 13 ancient woods and 10 veteran trees are within or adjacent to the development boundary, and under threat of damage and loss as a result.

The Lower Thames Crossing project team has held numerous meetings with environmental stakeholders over the years and we believe they are listening to us.
