Isn’t planting trees futile in light of the scale of change needed?

Planting native trees in the UK provides a huge range of benefits, many of which are related to climate change. Carbon sequestration is one of those benefits, but planting trees will never be the answer to the current environmental crisis. Planting trees for carbon can help provide a respite, the breathing space we need to discover large scale solutions. Creating new woodlands is symbolic of hope for the future, and of our commitment to changing our behaviour.

The message is simple: reduce your emissions, plant more trees.
