Volunteer speakers give talks to groups, clubs and societies about our work and are vital in helping us to reach out to supporters.
Speakers bring the outdoors in so that everyone can enjoy our woods.
Talks last for 45 minutes and cover several topics including:
- Our conservation work
- Woodland Trust woods
- Campaigns
- How to get involved with us
What is involved?
- Visiting interest groups to inspire them about woods and trees
- Giving lively informative talks and taking questions from your audiences - presentations and notes will be provided
- The location and time of talks varies
- You can state how far you want to travel and you can claim expenses.
What skills or qualifications do I need?
None, however the following is helpful:
- Interest in woodland conservation
- An enthusiastic, approachable and engaging personality
- Good communication skills and confidence
- Experience of public speaking
- Experience with digital presentations
What support can I expect from the Trust?
We provide full introductory training and support for our speakers.
Your volunteer manager will provide you all the support and advice you need once you have joined including
- Presentation material
- Updates about our work
- Telephone support whenever you need it
You can attend our volunteering forums and training events where you will meet other volunteers.
You will receive our volunteer newsletter.
