Here are some of our large network of dedicated volunteer speakers.

Pam Area: Hertfordshire
Pam is a very active volunteer speaker giving talks all over Hertfordshire. She also coordinates a local Support Group which started nearly 10 years ago when there wasn’t a Trust wood within 25 miles of where she lives. Now Pam has Heartwood Forest practically on her doorstep! |

Roger Area: West Yorkshire
Roger has been involved in community tree planting for 25 years because he wants his grandchildren to live in a greener world. This family hobby led to a Field Teaching role at RSPB Nature Reserves. Roger started volunteering as a speaker and he says 'I get the chance to enthuse others about British woodlands and wildlife and I love it'.
His best moment was meeting a volunteer on site who had become involved after being inspired by one of his talks.

John Area: Norfolk
John works in IT and finds woodland the perfect antidote to a hectic business life. As well as being a Volunteer Speaker, he is a Parish Tree Warden and writes a monthly magazine for Tree Wardens in Broadland. He is particularly interested in ancient trees and thoroughly enjoys his role as a speaker as it allows him to spread the message about the Trust. |

Mike Area: North Wales
Mike is a part-time University lecturer and Sustainable Bioenergy R&D consultant with a lifelong interest in the countryside. As well as being a volunteer speaker Mike is a beekeeper and a voluntary warden for one of our sites near Wrexham. He has even created his own new woodland. |

Peter Area: South Yorkshire/North Derbyshire
Peter says being a Volunteer Speaker for the Trust provides the opportunity to be involved intimately in our work. He says 'it gives me the sense of doing something useful. It gives me pleasure and, I hope, brings pleasure and information to the many varied groups I meet. Every time I talk is a new challenge and new experience. You never know what may be the outcome of that visit. It may a gift of woodland, or a request for help in creating new woodland, or just a simple comment opening a whole new discussion in the meeting. It is always fun' |

Michael Area: Belfast
Michael left a career as a Surveyor behind and started a conservation apprenticeship back in 2001. Over 10 years later he believes this was the best decision of his adult life. Happiest when working in the woods either planting trees or undertaking practical conservation management work such as cutting back invasive species, he was delighted to take the opportunity to engage others folk on the joys of woodland creation and spending time out in the woods. He say 'nothing compares to a fresh spring morning in the woods. With the birds signing and the buds swelling ready to burst, our woodlands are a magical place' |
