Come and plant a tree for the Jubilee and make your local community a greener place!

Kingshill is North Lanarkshire's newest local Nature Reserve... and now you can join us in the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Celebrations to create a commemorative Diamond Jubilee Wood within Kingshill.

Join the Countryside Rangers and the Woodland Trust Scotland at this free family event. There will be tree planting and fun environmental art events run by a local artist.

Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Creative Writing in the Woods

Saturday 19th May 11am – 1pm

Join author Mandy Haggith to find inspiration among the ancient oaks. Mandy has published two poetry collections and her novel, The Last Bear, won the Robin Jenkins Literary Award.  All ages and levels of creative writing experience welcome; from novice to novelist!  There will be a short walk on uneven ground with some steep and muddy sections. Bring a packed lunch.  FREE, booking not required.

Moth Magic

Saturday 23rd June 10am -12 noon

Moths are sensitive indicators of the health of the natural environment and a vital part of the food chain - many are also outlandishly beautiful when seen at close quarters.  Join local moth expert Tony Mainwood for a fascinating encounter with moths trapped in the woods during the previous night.  This event is part of Moth Night 2012.  FREE, booking not required.

Den Introduction to Bushcraft

Try out some of the skills essential for living in the great outdoors and cook up a feast around our woodland campfire.
