Help protect, restore and manage ancient woodland - by becoming a member

Ancient woods have been part of our landscape since the Ice Age. Britian's richest wildlife habitat, it is our equivalent of the rainforest and is totally irreplaceable. These diverse woods now cover less than 2% of the UK and what little remains requires careful management.

Save woods under threat - by becoming a member

Over 450 ancient woods are currently under threat of destruction from plans such as road building, housing developments and airport expansion. We fight proposals that will destroy ancient woodland and campaign to secure better protection.

Protect endangered species - by becoming a member

With woodland habitats being degraded and destroyed, our most precious wildlife – like the dormouse, red squirrel and bullfinch, are in danger of disappearing. Over 40 species associated with woodland have become extinct in the UK in the last century.

Create new native woods - by becoming a member

We have planted over 8 million native trees for future generations and wildlife to enjoy. This work helps buffer and extend existing woodland sites, link isolated fragments of woods together and provides high-quality havens for species. It is also great fun for people!

Engage and inspire people - by becoming a member

Increasing people's enjoyment of woodland is a top priority for the Trust. We hold events and activity days, produce a range of educational and professional resources and work with partners to educate, engage and inspire adults and children in woodland and nature.

Campaign for woodland and the environment - by becoming a member

We use our influence and knowlegde to campaign on a variety of woodland issues - from protection and planning policy to climate change and biodiveristy. The support of our members adds vital strength to our campaigning voice and helps ensure these views are heard.

With your £2.75 a month we can protect and care for half an acre of woodland, conserving it for generations to come and for the many endangered species who make it their home.
