Scotland - Crinan Wood

Size:  86.5 acres (35 ha)
Near:  Crinan, Argyll and Bute

Crinan Wood rises above the picturesque village of Crinan in Argyll & Bute, offering spectacular views.

It’s an incredible place. With its moist, warm climate it is home to a vast variety of ferns, lichens and bryophytes. There are 24 species of breeding bird including buzzard, tree creeper, redstart and wood warbler.

Dr. Lillian E Topping asked in her will that her legacy be spent on woodland creation in Argyll. Crinan Wood was perfect - whilst already rich in wildlife, it needed a helping hand to encourage regeneration of trees.

Thanks to Dr Topping, the regeneration programme will give Crinan wood a new lease of life. In the safe hands of the Woodland Trust, the wood will become an even healthier wildlife haven.
