See what different sizes of legacy might achieve

Legacies are vitally important in helping the Woodland Trust rescue and restore the UK's native woodland. 

The examples in this picture illustrate just a few of the countless things a legacy, unhampered by restrictions, could become when gifted to the Trust (at present value).

£1,000 will fund the restoration of a small woodland pond, bringing it back to optimum condition for the wealth of wildlife that relies on it.
£5,000 will fund a butterfly and botanical survey which helps ensure appropriate management to protect vulnerable species and their habitat.
£7,000 will fund the small-scale low impact thinning of non-native conifers using horses, letting more light through to encourage natural regeneration of native species.
£8,000 will help us create around 6 acres (2.5 hectares) of wildflower meadow.
£10,000 will fund the installation of a foot bridge over a stream or deep gulley to allow visitors better access to the wood.
£17,500 will fund the maintenance of around 500 acres (202 hectares) of ground flora for up to 5 years – keeping invasive non-native species in check to allow native species to flourish.
£21,000 will enable us to traditionally lay around 2.5 miles (4 km) of boundary hedge – providing new habitat for thousands of wildlife species.
£30,000 will fund 3 miles (5 km) of deer and rabbit fencing to protect vulnerable woodland and new tree planting from damage.
£50,000 will fund over half a mile (1 km) of all-weather access track – enabling people of different abilities to enjoy a woodland walk all year round.
£100,000 could fund the planting of around 20,000 new native trees, on land already acquired.
£500,000 could fund the acquisition of approx. 100 acres (40 hectares) of farmland for native broadleaf tree planting – buffering ancient woodland.
£1,000,000 could fund the acquisition of around 400 acres (160 hectares) of irreplaceable ancient woodland, keeping it safe for the wildlife depending on it and for future generations to enjoy.
