On: Value of a legacy

Q- How do I ensure that all my beneficiaries receive what I want, when I do not know how much my estate will be worth when I die?

You could leave your estate in percentages and then the amounts would change if your Estate increases or decreases, leaving beneficiaries with the same proportionate part of your estate. For example, if your estate is currently valued at £100,000 and you wished to leave a beneficiary 25 per cent of the value of your estate, the figures below show the effects of using that percentage should the value of the estate increase or decrease.

   £100,000 £200,000 £50,000
 25%    £25,000   £50,000 £12,500
