Testimonial - Hanna and Nick Chamberlin

Hanna and Nick's wedding dayHanna and Nick married on 5th September last year after returning to the UK for the ceremony.

They chose woodland dedication as their wedding gift from friends and family, and donations received enabled the couple to not only dedicate an acre in Duncliffe Woods, but also to fund the planting of 75 trees in Heartwood forest.

"We have been living in Australia for the past few years, where we have been really affected by the continued logging of ancient woodlands and rainforest for commercial purposes. The treatment of forests in Australia has also made us even more appreciative of the woodlands in the UK, and particularly the work done by the Woodland Trust to preserve woodlands for the public.

"Whilst we dream of one day owning our own piece of woodland, we thought that dedicating an area of ancient woodland would be close enough, and a beautiful way of having a lasting memory of our wedding day which could be shared by all our friends and family for generations to come."

The happy couple with friends and family visit Duncliffe Wood the day after the weddingOn the day after the wedding, the couple were joined by wedding guests for a walk in Duncliffe Wood who continue to return. But for Hanna and Nick, the most touching thing to come from their dedication was the jar of blackberry jam that Hanna's brother sent to them when they were back home in Australia, made from fruit collected from Duncliffe's hedgerows.
