Sweden on Stage

On 4th July the Embassy of Sweden hosted a green afternoon of activities and fun on Hampstead Heath as part of the City of London Festival!

The afternoon supported by IKEA was brimming with eco arts, music making, dance, storytelling, art installations, delicious food and midsummer festivities. Music played throughout the day with the sounds of Swedish and British folk, jazz and contemporary music, culminating in a concert from The Benny Andersson Band!

The day was part of a programme of events to promote environmental sustainability and contemporary Swedish society, in celebration of Sweden taking over presidency of the European Union on July 1st.

Family activity with the Woodland Trust

The Woodland Trust hosted a tent alongside the European Commission, encouraging visitors to hunt out Hampstead Heath's ancient trees with free nature detectives CLUB activity sheets and an exclusive competition to enter.

Find out more about how to find, and help us protect the UK's ancient trees - visit the Ancient Tree Hunt.

Hot weather helps raise funds!

Tetra Pak kindly arranged that 50p from the sale of every £1 water carton from the food vendors on the Heath, and the whole £1 from the Tetra Pak stand, was given to the Woodland Trust! A great success on such a balmy day.
