Cause related marketing

Together we can deliver through cause related marketing

A cause related marketing partnership with the Woodland Trust delivers a number of tangible and measurable benefits for both parties.

A partnership with the Woodland Trust offers:

  • Product differentiation with a bespoke marketing message tailored to meet your needs.
  • The opportunity for customers to support the environment by purchasing everyday products.
  • The chance for the company and the customer to act as one in support of the charity.
  • The development of brand loyalty.

Partners who have supported the Woodland Trust to date have done so in a variety of ways, including:

  • A tree dedication, Woodland Trust membership or the planting of a tree for every product sold (e.g. Dorothy Perkins).
  • Coupon collections allowing the customer to choose between a charity donation or a plant for their own garden.
  • Donation made per pack sold, supporting the general work of the Woodland Trust (e.g. Sainsbury's Woodland Eggs).

Customer research results

Researchers from a group of marketing agencies gave 10,000 people a list of 180 potential partners and asked them which were most likely to affect their purchase.

"Eight of the top ten responses were not-for-profits, with recycling issues ranked number one. Environmental issues, poverty relief and animal protection also featured in the top 10, along with voluntary organisations.”  Emma Rigby, Third Sector, 27 February 2008.

“Cause-related marketing partnerships with charities are more likely to persuade customers to buy a brand than tie-ups with sport, music and fashion."
