M&S recycles your technology and both you and the Woodland Trust can benefit.
Here’s your chance to get rid of all that redundant technology that’s cluttering up your cupboards – without just throwing it in the bin.
M&S has launched a simple-to-use service to help you recycle unwanted electronic gadgets, such as old mobile phones, laptops, digital cameras, MP3 players and sat navs.
As well as having the satisfaction of knowing your gadgets won’t end up in landfill, you’ll also receive M&S gift vouchers in return – for example, £65 for a mobile phone or £80 for a laptop in good condition.
Or you can donate part or all of the money to one of M&S’s partnership charities of which the Woodland Trust is one.
The UK produces, on average, one million tonnes of electronic waste every year – the fastest growing type of municipal waste in Europe.
When electronic gadgets end up in landfill sites, toxic chemicals from their batteries can leak into the environment and cause pollution.
Discarding your electronics also means their technology is lost, when it can often be recycled to benefit others in the global market.
