Green Metropolis

1 million books recycled in support of the Woodland Trust

Website GreenMetropolis.com encourages users to recycle their second hand books online, and donates 5p to the Woodland Trust for every book sold.

In 2008 the 1 millionth book was registered for sale on the site. Books are purchased for £3.75, including free delivery on all paperbacks and buyers can re-register the books for sale once they've read them and get £3.00 back once sold. If you have any books cluttering up your home, register them for sale and get them recycled.

Green Metropolis has helped stop a significant amount of paper from going into landfill, improving our environment and helping the fight against climate change.

Katherine Jaiteh, a corporate fundraiser at the Woodland Trust, said: “This scheme is excellent because it not only encourages people to recycle books but also raises money for us to plant trees.
