Calor Gas announces support for MOREwoods
Calor Gas has committed to helping green up the countryside by investing £250,000 into the Trust's MOREwoods project.
MOREwoods is a ground-breaking project which helps landowners plant native woodland on their properties.
The Warwick based company joined local landowners Brian and Janette Hallett to plant the first trees of the project of which will become their new woodland.
In time the Trust hopes it will be able to help many landowners take advantage of the scheme which will help the Trust realise its long terms vision of doubling native UK woodland.
Calor Gas is providing £250,000 over three years. In year one, £100,000 of Calor’s investment will go towards the £1 million costs of developing and delivering a project to plant 500,000 trees on other people’s land this coming winter – 50,000 of which will be planted from Calor’s contribution.
Clare Ollerenshaw, Trust project manager for MOREwoods, said: "We would like to thank Calor for its enormous contribution to the scheme. This new native woodland in Warwickshire through MOREwoods will provide an invaluable haven for local wildlife in an area of relatively low woodland cover.”
