Woodland Carbon

Woodland Carbon, from the UK’s leading woodland charity, removes carbon from the atmosphere through the creation of much needed native woodland across the country.

Helping to reduce our impact on the climate can be a beautiful thing.

Our Woodland Carbon projects and forests provide vital new spaces for wildlife and  communities and prepare the UK to deal with climate change. It is thanks to business investment and personal donations that we can make them happen.

We have calculated that in order to lock up 1 tonne of carbon dioxide, 25 square metres of woodland needs to be planted. It is important to work on an area of woodland rather that numbers of trees as it is the most consistent measure of carbon sequestration. Tree planting density, species and soil type all influence the amount of carbon a tree absorbs.

Our carbon projects are managed to the highest standard and are in the process of achieving certification under the Government's new accreditation scheme, the Woodland Carbon Code. We hope to announce the certification of the Warcop and Heartwood shortly.
