Without trees our world would be a desolate place. They are the lungs of the Earth, absorbing and storing carbon dioxide which would otherwise contribute to dangerous global warming. But the benefits of trees don’t stop there: their presence enhances communities throughout the UK and provides a home to wildlife.
At the Woodland Trust we believe that reduction and avoidance of emissions is the most effective way to reduce the impact of climate change. We also wholeheartedly believe that planting trees is a viable way to capture and store the carbon that has been produced and cannot yet be avoided. These trees will help us reforest the UK, and by creating larger woodland habitats, will help both people and wildlife to adapt to a changing climate.
There are many man made sources of greenhouse gas emissions, but did you know deforestation accounts for almost 20% of these? So by making woodland carbon your next step in the cycle you are also contributing to the vital work of ensuring there are trees for the future.
By planting trees with our Woodland Carbon scheme you can make a lasting difference – why not donate now and start making a difference today!
You can use the guideline amounts to decide how much to donate or go to Act On CO2 to get a more accurate reading. Donations can be made by monthly Direct Debit or one off payment. Or you could ask your employer about setting up a payroll giving scheme and make your donation more tax efficient.
