With your support, the Woodland Trust Scotland is going to create a new wood on the beautiful 800 hectare (2000 acres) Milton Estate in the Great Trossachs Forest. By helping to plant thousands of native trees you will be contributing to a landscape which already boasts spectacular views over Loch Venacher and beyond.

About Milton
Years of grazing has taken its toll on this landscape. Our plans will help restore the mosaic of habitats to include heathland, grassland, wetland, newly planted trees and scattered remains of ancient woodland.
The lower part of the site contains grassland and wetland and is of importance for wading birds. The upper slopes of Milton contains a hidden “hanging glen“ that includes the remote summit of Ben Ledi.
Amidst the natural habitats there are also many fascinating features such as Samson’s Putting Stone - a large boulder, deposited from a glacier at the end of the last ice age, perched on top of Bochastle Hill.
To the west lies the remains of Dunmore Fort which over 2000 years ago was a thriving settlement and home to several families and their annimals. A steep, informal path runs from the lay-by on the A821 to the top of this Scheduled Ancient Monument .
Milton, is already a place of history and symbolism. This wood will become a woodland legacy for future generations and a direct contribution to the future forests of Scotland.
Thank you for your support.
