Old Wood, Norfolk

Summer scene at Old Wood, Sheringham

Improving this area for the people of Norfolk

We asked the people of Sheringham and Norfolk what they wanted from this wood.

What came strongly from this was to improve the access so that these areas could be enjoyed by everyone whatever their ability.

We have raised  £156,000 so far and are only £20,000 off our target to make this whole project a real success.

Can you help?

A Special Opportunity!

Working with Sheringham Town Council and Norfolk District Council, we will make this complex of woods a special place inclusive for everyone to visit.

Within the woods, there many species of animals and plants that can be seen and enjoyed, pipistrelle bat, song thrush, bullfinch, spotted flycatcher, adder, slow worm, common shrew, weasel and roe deer.

Fourteen species of butterfly can also be seen, including the comma, holly blue and common blue.

Plants present include indicators of ancient woodland such as wood sorrel, early purple orchid and twayblade, and typical heathland species, including ling heather, heath bedstraw, tormentil, sheeps sorrel, gorse and broom.

These should be enjoyed by everyone.
