Our aim will increase native woodland cover – in picturesque Warleggan Valley

"Our aim is to increase native woodland cover – in picturesque Warleggan Valley"

Liz and Darren Cox

"We have planted 1,200 trees to increase native woodland cover – and wildlife habitat - in Cornwall’s picturesque Warleggan Valley. We even have plans for a fruit and nut wood."

All the tree planting as been part of a growing tree planting movement across the UK co-ordinated and driven by the UK’s leading woodland charity, the Woodland Trust.  It is encouraging landowners large and small to plant native trees on their land; offering advice, help and, in exceptional cases, funding.

Why plant a wood for the landscape?

The Woodland Trust wants to help landowners to plant more trees. The UK is one of the least wooded places in Europe. Only around 12 per cent of the UK is wooded compared with an average of 44 per cent in other European countries. Planting new woods will help us to acheive our aim of trying to double native woodland cover
