Managing sites

The Woodland Trust has been acquiring and managing woodland sites since its foundation in 1972.

Dufton Ghyll Wood. WTPL/E Hamilton.

In most cases we care for woods because they have been under threat at some stage in the past and we have secured their future by ensuring they are sensitively managed, either directly by us or we have facilitated others, such as local community groups, to care for them. Not all the land we look after is covered with trees. We also manage other habitats including farmland. We often work in partnership with others to achieve our woodland management aims.

We are still actively protecting woodlands and seeking new sites in key areas.  All our land is managed to high standards and in accordance with our woodland management approach.

The Woodland Trust is the UK's leading woodland conservation charity.
