Managing woodsThe Woodland Trust has been acquiring and managing woodland sites since its foundation in 1972. Woodland officersOur diverse estate is cared for by a team of about 40 woodland officers all of whom work from a home office within or near their ‘patch’ of sites. Contractors Much of our work on the ground is implemented by a team of over 300 contractors, sometimes aided by volunteers where appropriate for the task. PartnershipsVery often we work in partnership with others organisations in managing sites in order to achieve common goals, particularly where we are aiming to achieve real results across a landscape scale. New sitesFrom its very earliest days the Woodland Trust has used the acquisition of woods as a significant way of protecting them. |
