Lineover Wood near Dowdeswell, Gloucestershire

“The countryside has always been a big part of my life and although I seem to spend less time in the Cotswolds than I would like, it is always a great pleasure to return home and relax in the beautiful surroundings of the Cotswold Hills.

Nestled in these hills, within the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is Lineover Wood. A glorious woodland that’s home to several deer species, foxes, badgers and an abundance of ground flora and butterflies. Easily accessible by road, it’s perfectly peaceful once you are amongst the trees. The varied habitats and the paths and streams that criss-cross the wood make it a great for walking and I’d highly recommend a visit if you’re ever nearby.

I am reliably informed by my secretary that Lineover means “lime bank” in Anglo-Saxon.  She has recently become involved with the Lineover Volunteer Group, who organise regular winter working parties to assist with the general maintenance and specialist habitat management works within the wood. You can support the Woodland Trust simply by recycling your Christmas cards, helping them plant more trees and create more beautiful woodlands like this across the UK.”
