About this wood

This steep sloped valley-side wood is situated close to the tiny village of Littlebeck, near Whitby and within the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. The Littlebeck valley has a fascinating industrial history and evidence is still visible of mining for alum, a fixing agent used in the dying of cloth, and for jet, a semi-precious stone.

This site has been transferred into third party management with appropriate safeguards in place to ensure it remains protected. The site is no longer under our day-to-day management control and therefore we do not maintain a management plan for this site. There are also no dedications available on this site.
