About this wood

Killaloo Wood sits within the beautiful valley of the River Faughan, just outside the city of Londonderry. The wood, a natural treasure trove, is well worth a visit. A network of pathways will lead you through the woodland, which contains fragments of precious ancient woodland, and along the river’s edge. Picnic tables are discreetly in place and several log seats provide resting places for visitors. Springtime plants such as bluebell, wood anemone, wood sorrel and wild garlic adorn the ancient woodland; while birds include the sparrowhawk, jay and kingfisher. If you are really lucky, you might even come across the herd of wild goats that roam up and down the valley, feeding on grass and using the woodland as shelter.
