About this wood

Bessie’s Copse is small, peaceful young woodland on the edge of the rural village of Clyst Hydon in East Devon approximately 4 miles south of Cullompton. Located on the edge of the Devon Redlands Natural Area the Copse will provide a wooded environment in an area with little tree cover. The surrounding landscape is characteristically flat which leads parts of this low lying site to be waterlogged during wet periods and results in a seasonal pond in one corner of the Copse. Loamy soils derived from Permo-Triassic sandstone are present.
