About this wood

Set in the midst of an otherwise flat landscape, Stoke Wood, just six kilometres north west of Bicester, is something of a local landmark, visible from all directions. This is an ancient woodland site, once managed as hazel coppice with oak standards, though around half of the site was planted in the fifties with a conifer-broadleaf mixture. The exotic conifers are being phased out, enabling the wood to return to its original character.
