About this wood

Railway Plantation is located on the Murdishaw Estate (east Runcorn) between Barnfield Avenue and the railway line. The site is approximately 280m long and 90m across at its widest point, it runs from south-west to north-east with a slight eastern aspect. A deep cut drainage ditch runs from south-west to north-east linking a number of seasonal ponds. The Warrington and Runcorn Development Corporation managed the plantation through the 1980's and early 90's the site was then donated to the Woodland Trust in December 1995.
