About this wood

An isolated block of SNAW on a south facing slope overlooking the Chew Valley. The wood is surrounded by grassland fields (the one to the north is a County Wildlife Site) with a strip of SNAW woodland not in Trust ownership stretching along the eastern streamside boundary. The wood is mixed broadleaf of high forest and coppice structure. The ground flora is rich with many AW indicators. The wood is accessed across 2 fields off a small narrow public road. There is no internal management access. A public footpath also crosses the fields cutting through a small corner of the wood. Due to its inaccessibility the wood is not well used by the public.
