About this wood

Sitting along the scarp slope rising from the River Thames’ flood plain, this diverse series of woods dominate the local skyline. Typical of the Chilterns, these woodlands are a broadleaf-conifer mix dominated by beech. Quarry, High, Fullness and Inkydown woods make up a special area of conservation for their rich ground flora, fine beech trees and a rare mix of fungi and bryophytes.
