About this wood

A place of beauty and atmosphere, you can stroll beneath wonderful big beech and sweet chestnuts dating back maybe 200 years with delightful spring carpets of bluebells at your feet. Much is ancient woodland - a mixture of mature ash, sycamore, sweet chestnut and oak that has evolved on the clints (limestone blocks) and grikes (water-eroded gaps) of the Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
