About this wood

There’s a rural feel to Nor, Cookspring and Owler Car woods, despite their proximity to Sheffield, about 2 miles away. It’s not surprising local residents enjoy relaxing here. The woods form part of a larger complex that includes Coalpit Wood, Newfield Spring Wood and Whinacre Wood and has a long history of human use. Once surface mined, the area was cleared and replanted with non-native species - larch, red oak, maple and sycamore.
