About this wood

Tattershall Carrs forms the last remaining remnants of ancient, wet, alder-dominated woodland that once ringed the margins of the Fens. It also boasts a fascinating history, for the wood was part of RAF Woodhall Spa during the Second World War - and was home to the famous 617 “Dambusters” squadron. It’s still possible to make out bomb shelters and structures within the wood.

"A pleasant little wood, can get very muddy after rain, signs of the former WWII RAF camp are still visable. On the NE corner is the Tattershal Thorpe Visiters Centre, a recreate RAF camp"
