About this wood

A small area of land originally donated for woodland creation by Mr & Mrs Kew who was one time neighbours. The wood was planted in 1982 with a mix of broadleaved species - ash, field maple, hazel, oak, willow, alder, lime, crab apple and blackthorn. The wood has established well but slowly over the last twenty years and has now closed canopy. Some of the tree species i.e. oak and alder are not doing that well due to the wood overlying limestone and it is anticipated that the ash and field maple will dominate in the longer term.

This site has been transferred into third party ownership with appropriate safeguards in place to ensure it remains protected. The site is no longer under our day-to-day management control and therefore we do not maintain a management plan for this site. There are also no dedications available on this site.
