About this wood

The second largest of the Woodland Trust’s Woods On Your Doorstep sites in Cornwall, Kea Wood was planted on two separate blocks of agricultural land close to the communities of Kea, Playing Place and Penweathers and only 2.5 miles from the City of Truro. It helps fulfil three of the Trust’s objectives of Increasing the area of new native woodland, enhancing woodland biodiversity by extending and linking areas of adjacent woodland, heathland and hedgerows and enhancing public’s access to and their appreciation of woodlands.

Spot species

See how many different species you can spot while visiting our woods. The woodland world is full of wonderful wildlife just waiting to be discovered.

Hunt for ancient trees

Join our new Ancient Tree Hunt and help us find all the fat old trees across the UK - just by hugging them! It's lots of fun for all the family and you'll be helping to protect ancient trees too.

Record seasonal signs

Record seasonal signs to help us monitor and measure changes in climate over time with Nature's Calendar or Nature Detectives for younger people.

Take pictures

Our woods are great places to take pictures. And if you take great pictures of places, why not send them into us? We're always looking for new images of our woods. You might even like to join our voluntary photographers' scheme.
