About this wood

The site comprises of Granllyn Pool itself, a shallow partly vegetated lake, a fringe of gently sloping former improved cattle pasture that was mostly planted with native broadleaves by the Trust in 1999, and an additional field to the south west which was purchased and planted by the Trust in 2005. The Pool is no more than two metres deep, and has a soft mud and peat bottom and is partly covered with a variety of aquatic plants, the most obvious of which are sallow willow and tall emergent pond vegetation including bur-reed, yellow flag, bulrush and bottle sedge.
