About this wood

Stanground Wood lies right on the outer edge of the Peterborough fens, to the south is rising ground formed by an old river terrace now covered in housing, to the north and east is the valley of the River Nene, a managed landscape of intensively farmed arable land with brick pits and the sliver of washland which brackets the river and was constructed to contain the flood waters.
