About this wood

Visitors flock to Hedley Hall Woods, a flagship site in the Great North Forest and a favourite for informal recreation and community events. The woods occupy a tranquil setting close to Beamish Museum and are made up of Ridley Gill, a 9Ha (22 acre) SSSI ancient woodland and a 46Ha (115 acre) Woodland Trust woodland creation scheme where broadleaved trees and shrubs have been planted on former arable and pasture land.
